Story

Written by Rory Faithfield on the 31st January 2009 in Busselton, Western Australia

Lyrics

She squinted into the light
Those western rays were far too bright
Burning on her skin
Rubbed the sleep out of her eyes
And turned her back on darker skies
Said it's time to let it in

I can see you
So much better
Under big blue western skies

Walked the path with sunburnt feet
Drawn by a distant beat
To the solitary shore
Of glistening sands, broken shells
A hundred thousand fare-thee-wells
And something new she could not ignore

I can see you
So much better
Under big blue western skies

She squinted into the light
The western rays were far too bright
On that solitary shore
Of glistening sands, broken shells
A hundred thousand fare-thee-wells
And something new she could not ignore

Something new she could not ignore

I can see you
So much better
Under big blue western skies

Big blue
Big blue western skies
Big blue
Big blue western skies
I can see you, so much better now

Story

Written by Rory Faithfield in Vasse, Western Australia and Dublin, Ireland  during April/May 2009

Lyrics

She went into the world from whence she came
Into the world today
From this seaside moonlit town
Built on sand and made of clay
The waves came crashing in
And washed it all away
Into the world from whence she came
Into the world today

Into the world from whence she came
Into the world she went
To the sound of breaking glass
That seemed to represent
Old photographs and memories
And letters that she sent
Into the world from whence she came
Into the world she went

Into the world she went today
Over the border into the land of come what may
I watched her from the other side
I watched her make her way
Into the world from whence she came
Into the world today

She went into the world from whence she came
Into the world today
From this seaside moonlit town
Built on sand and made of clay
The waves came crashing in
And washed it all away
Into the world from whence she came
Into the world today

Lyrics

I always said you were on your way
But you'd never listen to a word I say
Now I see a little light in your eyes

Times were hard yet you made it through
I'm amazed by the things you do
Now I see a little light in your eyes

I see a little light
I see a little light
Now I see a little light in your eyes

You came, you saw, you broke the spell
I always knew that you'd do well
Now I see a little light in your eyes

Found the key, unlocked the door
You had it all, now you've got more
Now I see a little light in your eyes

I see a little light
I see a little light
Now I see a little light in your eyes

You're free and all the wheels are turning now
For once in your life, you don't need to know how
No more losing my friend, it's time to win
And the only thing that you've got to do is let it in

I see a little light
I see a little light
Now I see a little light in your eyes

Lyrics

I was born in Sydney town
Yet my heart was incomplete
I learnt young how to hold my tongue
But I never could stop my feet
Across the land, over the sea
Far away I went
Wore out my shoes
As I paid my dues
And all I had was spent

I'll see you, yeah I'll see you,
Oh I'll see you around
'Cause I found my way
And in one more day
I'll be home in Sydney town

I was born in Sydney town
Beneath the setting sun
To crashing waves, stars ablaze
And a race yet to run
I could never reconcile myself
To the mystery of light
Had to find
What lay behind
And set out into the night

I'll see you, yeah I'll see you,
Oh I'll see you around
'Cause I found my way
And in one more day
I'll be home in Sydney town

I was born in Sydney town
And I'll be born again
The tide will turn, now I've come to learn
That I just don't know when

Story

Clonard is a small town in County Meath, Ireland, and is the site of a 6th century monastery started by St Finnian.  Of course I had no idea about all this when I wrote the song... Writing songs can get wierd.

Lyrics

Clonard

She called from the distance
Called out from a dream
Beyond a world of resistance
From the spaces between

We're going to Clonard
We're going to see
We're going to Clonard
Come you with me

I walked in her footsteps
Seeking her hand
Heard the river beside me
In this darkened land

We're going to Clonard...

Echoes in the distance
Weeping from the trees
Sighs like morning mist
Falling broken leaves
She called from the distance
Called out from a dream
Beyond a world of resistance
From the spaces between

We're going to Clonard
We're going to see
We're going to Clonard
Come you with me
Home to Clonard
Home to see
Home to Clonard
Come you all with me

Lyrics

Don't wanna live with this world
In peace and harmony
Just wanna live with myself
Can't spell some of the things
That I am meant to be
Don't wanna be nobody else

Something real
I wanna live for something real

I'd rather speak my mind
And make a mighty mess out loud
Than leave any words burning on my tongue
Don't wanna risk the chance
That I could still make my father proud
Leaving things unsaid or done

Something real
I wanna live for something real
And I can feel
I've found something that is real

Something real
I wanna live for something real

Don't wanna live with this world
In peace and harmony
Just wanna live with myself
Still can't spell some of the things
That I am meant to be
Don't wanna be nobody else

Something real
I wanna live for something real
And I can feel
I've found something that is real
I've found something that is real
Something that is real
Something real, real, real, real
real, real, really real

Lyrics

I made you cry and you made me bleed
Maybe I could be the one you need
I'd fall in line and follow your lead
If only I could be the one you need

Maybe I could be the one you need
Maybe I could be the one you need

There are so many ways to get lost in this town
Bells used to ring and now make no sound
In skies of blue and shades of grey
I saw you and I found my way

Maybe I could be the one you need
Maybe I could be the one you need
I'd fall in line and follow your lead
If only I could be the one you need
We've seen so little of our world so far
So little of our world so far
So little, so far
Maybe I could be the one you need
Maybe I could be the one you need

We've been waiting for so long
Waiting for so long
Waiting, waiting

Maybe I could be the one you need
Maybe I could be the one you need
I'd fall in line and follow your lead
If only I could be the one you need

If only I could be the one you need
If only

Lyrics

Beneath the surface of this ocean
And the stars that you can see
Waves of infinite motion
All that was or will be

Beyond all recognition
And the voice of superstition
Get ready, hold steady...

As you rearrange the words to those songs you sing
And the pictures in your mind
Walls will fall, bells will ring
Word for word, kind for kind

Beyond all recognition
And the voice of superstition
Get ready, hold steady
And assume the position
Just assume the position

Reach up and out
With open arms into the sky
And close your eyes
As it all passes you by
Into a new world soft as clay
It seemed like concrete yesterday

Beyond all recognition
And the voice of superstition
Get ready, hold steady
Assume the position

Get ready, hold steady
And just let it go
Let it go

Story

Lyrics

Rivers and oceans lurk beneath your skin
Try to hold your breath you just can't keep it in
As the wind must blow blood must circulate
And as these wheels must turn you shall meet your fate

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

The dam has broken you're floating in the flood
Leagues above that old life knee deep in the mud
You can hear it call you now that lost voice in the crowd
It weaves it's way around you like an illuminated shroud

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
All your friends, they will say how much you've grown
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

The time is nigh so cease and desist
Hold the door for all that you resist
Greet your foe like a long lost friend
Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

Open your eyes now and take another breath
As you loose yourself from the limp and bloodied arms of death
You're still the new beginning and the ending of it all
The light reflected in the stars and the writing on the wall

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
All your friends, they will say how much you've grown
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
Sooner or later you're going to find your way home

Rivers and oceans lurk beneath your skin
Try to hold your breath you just can't keep it in
